Jamie "I DONT Need No Freakin' Spoiler" Elam was up to his typical performance on Friday and Saturday night at Columbus last weekend. In his heat race, he battled for the duration of the event with Jimmy Owens for the final spot. Elam ran the top long after the top groove had gone away, and made it look good. He missed the transfer by one spot, and knocked his spoiler off (surprise, surprise). On Saturday afternoon, as I walked through the pits, he was re-attaching the spoiler. I asked him if he really thought it was necessary, since he would just knock it off again, and anyway he's faster without it.......he stopped a moment, and then replied "You may be on to something there".
Move of the weekend at Columbus would have to be heat #3 when David Breazeale and Jamie Elam made a Bullring sandwich out of Jimmy Owens. Exiting turn #2 Owens was in the middle of the track when Breazeale blew by him on the bottom as Elam rocketed by him on the high side.
